About us

New owners of The Rose & Crown Peter & Linzi Harrison have lived in Thorpe for just over 12 years. They have been very active within community of Thorpe during this time being members of the of Thorpe’s Christmas Festival committee.

Peter’s occupational background for some 30 years has been running the family business specialising in building preservation.

The Rose & Crown had undergone a complete refurbishment in 2013 bringing the building back to its significant status as a public house and restaurant within the village.


The interior of the Rose & Crown has also undergone a complete makeover, including an impressive new bar. At the heart of the design is a dual aspect log fire. The idea was to create a modern relaxed atmosphere whilst being sympathetic to traditional village pub feel.


On entering you will be greeted by Daughter Sarah Harrison and her proficient front of house team. Sarah Trained at Colchester institute studying catering and hospitality Management. (Qualifications) She completed her work experience within the renowned Milsoms group and continued to work there for 2 years.

Following this Sarah worked in a British style pub the Algarve, Julio’s restaurant in Thorpe and a restaurant Supervisor at the Lifehouse Spa Hotel.

Jamie Bird started working at The Rose & Crown June 2014. Coming from Lifehouse Spa Hotel he was trained by there head chef and gained lots of experience and skills. After being with us since June he has now become our Head Chef.

Jamie Southee started working with us September 2013 as a keen enthusiastic youngster. He has been taught By Jamie Bird from basic kitchen duties to preparing and cooking good quality meals. He is currently studying a NVQ within our establishment.
